This is a bizarre turn of events, though I suppose when you’re dealing with a compulsive liar, “predictable” isn’t really in their vocabulary. It must be incredibly frustrating for the jury to try and parse out any semblance of truth when the goalposts keep moving like that. I was actually reading a piece on https://englandderbyshire.co.uk/ about how the legal system struggles with psychological complexities in the courtroom, and this seems like a textbook example. It really makes you wonder how a fair verdict can even be reached when the defendant’s own narrative is constantly shifting.
