    All I can come up with here is to replace … with “halved”, but that only works if you add some brackets:
    (1+1)/2 -1/2 = 0.5

    I think I must be thinking about it the wrong way.

    It’s more that if you’re alone you got your own property + cash = 1
    when you marry you end up with your own properties and hers, making 1+1.

    then you split up, and she takes half, so you end up with 0,5
